The book that I’ve been working on most recently, Where Women Sing, is very much a landscape novel: it was conceived and exists in a particular location and writing about places is central to my work. Therefore it seemed a logical step to try my hand at more formal travel writing and I have had an article about a trip to Cologne, Berlin and Belsen published in the Observer, and one about prospecting for gold in Western Australia published in the Daily Telegraph. I am currently working on a novel that is set on the French canals.
